ABOUT \\ THE FANLISTING
An anime fanlisting aims to gather as many fans of a particular anime and/or manga subject from all over the world in just one list. The network's website is currently located at http://www.animefanlistings.org.
This site is the fanlisting for the anime and manga series Rupan Sansei or Lupin III, read as Lupin the Third, a creation of the legendary Monkey Punch. It is named from the one of the earliest Lupin III theatrical films, Strange Psychokinetic Strategy. Likewise, the idea of being continually "kinetic" very much applies to the fast-moving, globetrotting style of the series. This website been online since 19 May 2010.
LUPIN III \\ THE SERIES
Lupin III was created by mangaka Monkey Punch and first released as a manga series in August 1967 in the Japanese magazine Manga Action Weekly. The tale was inspired by Arséne Lupin: Gentleman Thief, a series of short novels and novels authored by Frenchman Maurice Leblanc in the early 1900s. Monkey Punch's new Lupin is, supposedly, the grandson of Leblanc's character.
The series has five central characters: Arséne Lupin III, Jigen Daisuke, Goemon Ishikawa, Fujiko Mine and Inspector Zenigata. Lupin is the notorious "gentleman thief." He leaves notes informing his victims of the items he is targeting on his current planned heist. No matter how many preventive measures his victims try to take, he always manages to spirit away whatever he wants, wherever it is placed.
The mysterious Jigen, a sharpshooting gunman, is Lupin's best friend and partner-in-crime. Goemon is a 13th-generation Samurai warrior and the wielder of a nigh-unbreakable sword. Fujiko is Lupin's love interest, who more than often tries to outwit him and take a heist's loot for herself. Inspector Zenigata is an InterPol agent who has devoted his life to bringing Lupin and the latter's gang to justice, a mission that has been unsuccessful for many, many years in the running.
The first manga series ended in 1972 with nearly 200 stories serialized. A second series came about in 1997, named Shin Rupan Sansei, ending when its story count nearly numbered the same as the first series. The third series came out in 1997. Many other Lupin III manga adaptations have been released throughout the years by companies such as Action Comics, Comic Souris and TokyoPop.
Lupin III took on animated form in 1971. Its initial run was by way of a 23-episode television series; it was, then, one of the few in Japan that possessed an adult sensibility and a sense of realism. This short-lived run is more commonly known as The Green Jacket Series.
The widely popular second run of the anime took place in 1977's Shin Lupin III (New Lupin III), which spanned 155 episodes in three years. This is likewise referred to as The Red Jacket Series. The third anime installment was released in 1984, this time entitled Lupin III Part III. The Pink Jacket Series covered 50 episodes in two years.
There are a number of animated theatrical films in the Lupin III saga. These include Strange Psychokinetic Strategy (1974), Lupin versus The Clone (1978), Castle of Cagliostro (1979), Legend of the Gold of Babylon (1985), Fuma Conspiracy (1987), To Hell with Nostradamus! (1995) and Dead or Alive (1996).
The year 1989 hailed the start of a Lupin III tradition, wherein a new film or television special was released annually. The first special is Bye Bye Liberty. For more information and some multimedia on the series, visit the comprehensive Lupin III Encyclopedia.

Sleep-less warriors
A Mission in the night
Create a rainbow on the sea churning with regret
Mid-nite I want to hear your voice
I fight against all the nuances of life
Sleep-less warriors
Linger between High and Low
Go beyond the gap between emotions
Mid-nite I want to hear your voice
I fight the mysteries of love and kindess
The first version of Kinetic features, clockwise from left, Arséne Lupin III, Goemon Ishikawa, Jigen Daisuke, Inspector Zenigata and Fujiko Mine against tones of amber, gold and yellow. It is a heavily edited scan of the front cover of the Lupin versus The Clone DVD box set. Image courtesy of The Lupin III Encyclopedia.
This layout is named Mid-Nite Warriors from a song of the Japanese pop band TM Revolution. Words appearing on the layout behind the Lupin III cast are translations of the original lyrics. The song's quick, almost breathless, rhythm and vigorous words are very appropriate for the pulse-racing pace of Lupin III.
The layout was uploaded on 19 May 2010. It was created using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, with a good number of layers and filters, and spliced with Image Ready. Brushes from Nocturna.net. HTML coded with Notepad.
